Amstard Gordon, Sr, son of Sir Hugh Gordon of near Aberdeen and an English servant girl. Born 1806/ Attended Abe Lincoln's wedding in Kentucky (near the same age) Was a devoted assistant minister......Early 1830's went to Arkansas Terr, owned a farm. Married Margaret Harp, remarried after her death. Went to Denver with sons Wm W, George, and Amstard, Jr. Left the farm and a younger daughter in Arkansas with older boys and girls who were married. Worked as part-time minister, died in Denver as a respected citizen.
There is some discrepancy as to the spelling of the first name. Grandma Blank had Amsterd. Other Gordon relatives (and the Ark census) have Armstead. Armstead was a name found fairly often in old records. Our "A" seemed to be that--"A".
