General Notes: Husband -
"Pray get Daniel Pegg's, or such a remote place, (then on Front near Green St.) in good order for me and family." Letter written by Wm. Penn to James Logan in 1709. ("Watson's Annuls of Philadelphia" by John F. Watson, 1887; pg. 139)
PA Genealogies: (CD#163)
p. 340, a footnote, Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families I, A-He, The
Family of John Cornman, Sugar Baker of Philadelphia
C. A. Browne, in the article cited above, mistakenly located the "old sugar
house"--possibly the first in the Philadelphia area--in Kensington. Its
actual location was on the west side of Front Street beyond the old city
limits just south of the junction of the Germantown, Frankford and
Kensinton Roads. It had been erected by Thomas Green, carpenter, in 1734, on land he had acquired by his marriage to Sarah, the widow of Daniel PEGG. See Philadelphia Deed Book F-7.137: 2 Aug. 1734.
p. 557, Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families I-A-He, William Fisher, Early
Philadelphia Quaker, and His Eighteenth-Century Descendants Surnamed....
Then within a month of this transaction he bought a one-acre lot across the
road from Daniel Pegg's land in the Northern Liberties, and in November of
the same year conveyed it for (pound sign)25 to Samuel Cooper, apparently
no relation to James Cooper to whom William had sold the water lot. (my
note: this is in reference to William Fisher)
p. 289, Genealogies of Pennsylvania Families III, St-Z, The Gabriel
Wilkinson Family of Philadelphia
The following year, only three years after investing in the Whitemarsh
quarries, Wilkinson purchased for 300 pounds the messauage and six acres of
land in the Northern Liberties where Daniel Pegg, Jr., had lived. The
premises included houses, outhouses, barns, stables, orchards and gardens.
